The Best Croissants In The World At Lune Croissanterie

Every second Melburnian proudly explains to tourists how Melbourne is in fact the cultural and culinary heart of Australia that boast incredible brunches, The Best Coffee in the World and The Best Pizza In The World. But one can only imagine that such claims must have Italian’s screaming merda from their Juliet balconies whilst downing a bottle of vino. However, it’s not only the Italian’s we like to piss off with such claims, the French also probably aren’t to happy at the claim that The Best Croissant in the World can be found here in Melbourne at Lune Croissanterie.

It was only a month or so ago that I was led to believe I had been living under a rock after I was informed of the existence of the highly acclaimed croissanterie, Lune. Unbeknown to me, hundreds of people every weekend were lining up for possibly hours to consume croissants and ‘cruffins’ created by the Instagram loved institution. So the millennial that I am just had to go and try one… actually two!

I’m honestly not much of a fan of standing in lines for anything, let alone a croissant, but I was informed by my friend that the line out the door was in fact a short one. After about 15 mins, I put forth my order for lunch with dessert in the form of a Ham & Gruyere Croissant and a Lemon Curd Cruffin.

I can honestly say I’m not an expert croissants consumer, but I can say that the ones I had at Lune were pretty dam good. Besides the food, I also particularly enjoyed the free sparkling water on tap and the friendly staff. What I didn’t enjoy was seeing the tremendous amount of waste by people ordering take-away, then consuming their food inside. If you’re going to eat in, get it served on a bloody plate and stop wasting packaging! Besides that, it’s worth a wait in line…
